One week into the New Year and I’m already tired of hearing about resolutions. The beginning of the New Year is just that—the beginning of the New Year. January 1st is not some kind of magical restart button. So I say screw resolutions! A list of ZeeBlu’s favorite tracks from 2013 is much more interesting!

Let’s start with our glorious COO, Jamie Vidales. She has an affinity for heavy guitar riffs and Grohl-ish drumming. Her pick for 2013? Queens of the Stone Age – …Like Clockwork (yeah, the entire album).
Check out QotSA’s 15-minute animated journey backed by …Like Clockwork (disclaimer: your mind may be blow—this video is gory and creepy and profound—proceed with caution).

Tori Bodin, our Executive Project Manager, has a favorite playlist made up exclusively of The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys, cleverly named “monKEYS”. She’s also obsessed with London, England, so it’s no surprise that her pick for 2013 is “Arabella” by Arctic Monkeys:

Nick Zurovski is ZeeBlu’s Executive Account Manager. It’s a 2013 classic—I won’t deny it:
(don’t watch if you’re offended by excessive booty shaking)

Melanie Maxfield, Media Consultant, has a love for everything funny and funky. Her pick for 2013 is by far the most fun track on this list. Jimmy Fallon, Robin Thicke, and The Roots singing “Blurred Lines” with classroom instruments:

Carly Gutierrez, Media Consultant, loves that 80’s sound. Whether it’s A Tribe Called Quest or HAIM, she’s always bumping something with an old school sound, like her pick for 2013: Arcade Fire’s “Here Comes the Night Time”.

We were all surprised when Jason Messick, Web Designer, declared that his favorite piece of music from 2013 wasn’t a Tom Waits track (who doesn’t love that smoky growl of a voice?), but instead The National’s new album Trouble Will Find Me. It seemed unfair to choose just one track because they are all so damn good!:

The newest member of the ZeeBlu team, our Videographer Spenser Gabin, is an EDM fan. His favorite DJ is Avicii and his favorite track of the year is “Seek Bromance” by Tim Berg:

Finally, your humble Author…I’m a hip-hop fan and Joey Bada$$ blew up this year. His track “Unorthodox” is fire, not to mention the video is great:

And because I can, here’s the most listened to song in my iTunes library—a throwback to October 2012—“Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” by Tame Impala:

A few runner-ups that aren’t necessarily from 2013:

Justin Timberlake – Pusher Love Girl

A Tribe Called Quest – Scenario

alt-J – Breezeblocks

And of course, what list would be complete without Rebecca Black’s end of the week anthem “Friday”?
