I grew up in a suburb, just outside of Detroit. This was the same place ZeeBlu was born. As early as I can remember, I was spinning postcard racks at the truck stops and looking at the pictures of tropical far off places. I used to ask my parents if people lived where the photos were taken. When I heard the answer was, yes,” I asked them why we didn’t live in a place that would be in a picture on a post card rack.
Ever since I was 4 feet tall, I had a sense for adventure, the unknown…I was an old soul on a quest to a place I had never heard of.
My parents were both educators and had summers off. That’s when we would head out of Detroit in a truck camper to explore. On one of those summer days, we stopped at a rest area for a break. As we gathered ourselves to hit the road, my parents went to the front to drive and I went to the back to get in the camper. It wouldn’t be until 2 hours later that my parents realized that I never made it into the back of the camper…on purpose. At 7 years old, I felt it was time to head out and see what the world had to offer. Yes, they came back hours later, frantic as I was surrounded by police. When asked what I was doing or where I was headed, my answer was, “Ohio.” This was probably the furthest place I knew at that age.
Fast forward through high school, I set out on a one way ticket to Boulder, Colorado, 3 days after graduation. Over the next 10 years, I traveled to 48 of the United States and more than 20 countries overseas. I cleaned chicken coops in the desert of New Mexico and drove shuttle busses in Israel. I was strangled unconscious and left in an alley in Africa and worked with cement contractors on islands off of Greece.
You may be asking yourself what this has to do with you, ZeeBlu or anything else for that matter. What is important about this story is, it’s about a boy that wasn’t like anyone else on the planet. On a pursuit and questing for something great that was not yet know.
ZeeBlu was born out of the uniqueness in people and business. Everyone has a story and they are all different. Just like a zebra’s stripes, no two are the same. But there is something about a zebra’s stripes, they stand out. Not just on zebras, but the fashion industry has been drawn to this pattern throughout history.

Tomorrow is the next day of our quest. Maybe we will see you then…
